Hello, and welcome to Caitlin’s Corner! This month I have something special to share with all of you: your beautiful artwork! A few of you sent in some drawings and paintings, and I have chosen a few of my favorites to feature. This is long overdue, so I hope you like my selection as much as I do:

This is the Black-capped Chickadee, painted by Yvie. I really like this painting because of the use of color in the background, drawing my eye to the chickadee. This is quite impressive, so keep up the awesome work, Yvie!

Phineas painted the Dark-eyed Junco, and I cannot believe how cute it is! The brush lines in this piece of art are really neat, and I like the way the bird was done. It looks like this dark-eyed junco is smiling. J Nice job, Phineas!

This has to be one of my favorite pieces of art, titled the Red-breasted Grosbeak. Logan did a great job with the use of color, the bird and branch looking very realistic. The use of accents with white and gray on the belly of the bird are very good, and the eye is spot-on. I’m very impressed, Logan! Keep submitting more artwork here and elsewhere!

Kyra painted the Red-winged Blackbird. This is one of the only pieces the Wild Bird Club received with a bird in flight, and Kyra certainly did a great job with that! I love how the wings are shown up; the brush stokes curve in such a way. The viewer is also able to distinguish feathers with the use of many different browns and grays. Keep on flying, Kyra!

I’m more of a painting girl, based my previous selections, but this colored pencil drawing is amazing! This was done by Cha-Young, and is of a blue jay. What really caught my eye was the use of shading with the blues. The colors on the blue jay go from light to dark and dark to light quite nicely. The branches are drawn with lots of lines and a cool use of different colors, too. Impressive, Cha-Young!

Thank you to everyone who submitted artwork! I will be picking more to feature on Caitlin’s Corner soon, so keep entering your talent! To do so, look at the bottom of this page for a link. To end this month’s article, here are a couple bird art pieces I found from when I was younger (first two), one from my dad (third one), and one from my mom (fourth one).
